MOTIVATE EMPLOYEES TOWARDS GENERATING IDEAS

Idea Management system implementation

Customer needs

Business +35M euro yearly turnover

A multinational manufacturing company has requested support in implementing an improvement idea collection system and a mechanism to motivate employees towards idea generation. The program’s goal is to create a system where employees actively and continuously participate in improving all activities and eliminating losses.

Implementation

First phase, prior to Idea Management implementation, involves defining the working concept of the entire improvement idea collection process at the customer, using the PDCA cycle (Plan-Do-Check-Act). Hence, we establish an uninterrupted and continuous process for promoting, collecting, and implementing improvement ideas, ensuring a continuous improvement cycle. The process consists of seven distinct stages, each aligned with a specific phase. The first two steps, known as „Marketing” and „Idea Proposals,” relate to the planning phase. The next two steps, „Evaluation and Approval” and „Feedback,” are associated with the execution phase. Next, we have the „Check” phase, composed of two steps: „Monitoring and Implementation” and „Benefits and Rewards.” Finally, there is the „Act” step within the action phase.

Outcomes

This study highlights the importance of marketing in promoting an Idea Management System and fostering employee engagement. The structured idea collection form and physical idea boards enhance the collection of improvement ideas from employees. The collaborative evaluation and approval process ensure a comprehensive understanding of the proposed ideas. Feedback mechanisms, addressing both approved and rejected ideas, are essential for maintaining employee motivation and participation. The Monitoring and Implementation phase guarantees the successful execution of approved ideas within the organization. A well-designed system of benefits and rewards, utilizing points and tangible prizes, contributes to the long-term motivation of employees. Implementing successful ideas within the organization promotes standardization and efficiency.
